Gretel Stock‑Kupperman is Director of the Todd Wehr Memorial Library, Viterbo University, La Crosse, WI. Gretel has been a member of CLS for at least four years, if not longer.
What are you reading or listening to today?
Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman. It’s a fascinating look at how we process information and make decisions.
What’s the best part of your work day?
Getting to work with students, faculty and staff from across campus. One of the greatest things about working in a library is not being hemmed in by discipline or department focus ‑ our mission is to serve everyone’s needs. It’s very energizing when there is something different in every day.
What are you most excited about right now (library-related or otherwise)?
We are adding to the campus instructional design team, which is part of the library. I’m excited that we’ll be able to offer more instructional technology advice and support with the additional staff.
How has your membership in CLS helped you?
CLS is a great division for professional camaraderie. Many of us are in smaller libraries, and it’s great to have a connection to people who have faced similar challenges. Whether it’s in person or on COLLIB‑L, the contacts and conversation are supportive and enriching.
