What are you reading or listening to today?
Listening to Lake Street Dive. A great band that came out of the New England Conservatory. Pop tunes with a jazz sensibility. Looking forward to seeing them in October!
What’s the best part of your work day?
Those rare times when I really get to talk with students. My job doesn’t always make room for that, so I really enjoy it when I get the chance.
What are you most excited about right now (library-related or otherwise)?
Each year, libraries all over the country celebrate Banned Books Week, to help ensure the freedom to read and the freedom of words and ideas. This year is a special one. I will be spending Banned Books Week (September 27-October 2) at the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library (KVML) as part of their “Locked Up with Vonnegut” event to celebrate the week and honor Kurt Vonnegut’s commitment to the freedom to read and write. There are an array of events during the week, including a book drive to collect banned books for the KVML. It is exciting to have a librarian at the center of KCML’s events, and I look forward to a great week.
How has your membership in CLS helped you?
I had always worked in research universities before coming to DePauw. It really helped with the transition, and understanding the differences. I am now a complete convert to the liberal arts!
